I have a dilemma. Work wise. I was accepted for the position, but I was being held back until the staff needs within my current department were met.. So I sped it along by writing the manager of the department I was supposed to go to. The next day, things were suddenly speeded up and my effective date drew as close as the next week. But my vacation was near, as close as the 26th May. My family had already planned our trip to Miami and Canada to attend my sister's graduation. Should I take up the new position, I would not be entitled to vacation. So that trip goes out the door. The only choice I have if to ask my current manager to delay the transfer.. Today, she approached me. By May 1st, I'd be out of the department, I told her about my situation and she gave me the option of staying one month longer.. It seems to solve all my problems, but does it really? That trip to Canada will cost me at least $8,000, do I really want to spend that? Additionally I will have the house ALLLLL to myself.. When again will that happen? Plus I'll be starting a new position and new experiences sooner, rather than at some untold date in the future. Negative, I'll be missing my sisters graduation, I'll be missing my family vacation, I have business to do in Canada regarding my health care and drivers permit and so forth. I think I'll be horribly depressed if they are up there and I am down here. I have until tomorrow to decide, what do I do?
